Happy First 5 Friday! Here is a great way to start off your weekend as you READ, TALK and PLAY with your little ones!


READ: Start off your weekend as you read "123s of Thankfulness" by  Patricia Hegarty. What are 3 things you and your little ones are thankful for?

TALK: Talk to your little ones about the "123s of Thankfulness" by  Patricia Hegarty. Use the conversation starters below to help get their attention.


Suggested questions to get the conversation started for all ages:

  • How do you say “thank you” to someone?
  • Did you thank someone today? Why?
  • Who can you always count on? Why are you thankful for them?

  • Pretend to fly like a butterfly.
  • Pretend like you are eating an apple.
  • Pretend like you are eating an ice cream cone.
  • Pretend like you are watering a seed that will grow into a beautiful plant.
  • Stretch really tall to help you grow!
  • Can you list the colors of the rainbow? Show me!
  • Parents: This is a great chance to talk to younger little ones about colors and teach them the colors of the rainbow. Remember ROYGBIV: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet
  • Pretend like you are flying a kite in the wind.
  • Do you have a favorite season? Tell me about it!
  • Parents: This is a great opportunity to teach your little ones about the seasons we experience each year.
  • Flap your arms and pretend to be a flying bird.
  • Sing a fun song or tune you know.
  • Point out a star in the night sky.
